About Us
What is Midnight Howl KC?

Midnight Howl KC is a community-oriented social collective and charitable organization, dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment for pets and handlers. Our core mission is to cultivate a welcoming space where individuals with shared interests can connect and engage in communal activities. While acknowledging the diversity of our members, we emphasize that our primary focus is maintaining an atmosphere that prioritizes social interaction and learning. We extend a warm invitation to all who are eager to explore and participate in our gatherings, provided they are 18 years of age or older.

Pet play is a type of role-playing that involves the partners taking the roles of pet and owner. There is no one right/wrong way to be a pet… it varies from individual to individual.
What Gear is Needed?
No gear is needed to be a pet. Some individuals do find it easier to fall into a pet headspace with certain gear… such as a hood, collar, or tail.
However, for the protection of the participants, knee pads and protective hand gear is usually required when playing/moshing is concerned.
What significance does a collar have?
Collars and/or locks can have a very specific meaning, usually one of commitment. A collared pet means that they have a relationship with another individual… this could be a with a handler, owner, or an alpha.
Is there any “P-etiquette” I should be aware of?
Always ask consent! Ask before touching.
This goes for:
-
Scritches
-
Collars/Locks
-
Tails
Do I need a Pack/Alpha/Handler?
NO! Those are relationships that are built over time, and whereas they can enhance one’s experiences (like any relationship does), they are not a requirement
Our Story
In the heart of Kansas City, a small group of 15 individuals organized by Pup Zephyr and Pup Ruby, ignited the spark of what would become a beacon for the local community. This group, known as Midnight Howl KC, rapidly expanded to over 30 members within six months, driven by a shared passion and camaraderie.
As the world braced for the unforeseen challenges of the 2020 pandemic, Pup Ruby, one of the founding members, relocated to Chicago. The pandemic brought widespread disruptions, but it could not dampen the spirit of Midnight Howl KC. Under the guidance of Pup Zephyr and with the support of Pup Saz, the group adapted to the new normal, transitioning to virtual gatherings. Despite lower attendance, the duo’s vision for the group remained undeterred, fostering ideas and plans for a brighter future.
With creativity and determination, Midnight Howl KC crafted its identity through distinctive logos, patches, and pins. They proudly marched in KC Pride parades, engaged the community with booths at Pride festivals, and established a series of monthly bar events. The group’s growth and vitality were palpable.
Recognizing the need for a structured approach to welcome newcomers and organize events, Zephyr and Saz introduced a new initiative: the Ambassadors. This team of dedicated individuals became the face of hospitality and planning, ensuring that every new member felt at home.
By September 2023, Midnight Howl KC had achieved a significant milestone, becoming a proud member of the Mid America Conference of Clubs (MACC). Their event calendar is a vibrant tapestry of gatherings, featuring three bar events each month at their Home Bar – Woody’s KC, at least two non-bar events, and the all-important monthly meeting.
Midnight Howl KC’s story is one of unity, adaptability, and growth. It stands as a shining example of how a community can thrive against all odds, fostering a sense of belonging and joy for all its members.
Our Colors
The emblem of Midnight Howl KC, crafted by Pup Webster, features a striking design that encapsulates the spirit of our group. At its heart lies a bold black circle, within which a vivid red canine silhouette is artfully merged with a sleek black feline cutout. Encircling this central image is a vibrant blue ring, adorned with crisp white lettering and delicate crescent moons. Completing the logo are layers of crescent moons, one with a soft white gradient and the other with a gentle blue gradient, symbolizing the harmonious blend of our diverse community. This emblem serves as a visual representation of our group’s inclusive and dynamic nature.

Leadership
Dedication. Expertise. Passion.

President
I’m Byte (He/Him), a playful pup who loves meeting new people and exploring places with my partner. Whether I’m playing with balls in the mosh pit or cuddling with stuffed animals, I’m always looking for fun. I was first introduced to pet play in 2018 at camp but it took me until 2023 to put on the hood. I have loved every moment of it and met some amazing people along the way. I am a service pup by nature and enjoy giving back to others however I can. Previously, I have served on the board for the local bear group, organizing events to fund our grants program. Let’s connect and make some memories! Awrooo!!!

Vice President
Hello! I’m Pup Saint (he/him). I have lived in Kansas City since 2017 and hail from central Kansas. I joined Midnight Howl as a full member in mid-2025 and have had a tail waggin’ great time since. I am a Shiba Inu at heart and show it through and through with my personality, devotion, energy, and bratty/sassy attitude!
I have been with my husband since 2013 and were married in 2023. I am also involved in Mid America Freedom Band, a local LGBTQ+ band, and play trumpet in our concert, jazz, pep, and marching bands. I recently joined KC Pioneers as an associate member.
I have a bio dog and cat at home that take up most of my free time and cuddles. Besides enjoying pup time with the local pets, I also enjoy traveling, movies, game nights, huge nerd (Marvel/DC, video games, Star Wars, etc), camping (glamping, I’m a Shiba remember), trying new foods, music and theater, and just spending good quality time with good pets and people. Awrooooo!

Pup Grey
Hiya! I’m Pup Grey (he/they), a bratty, subby little/cattle dog. I’ve been in and around KC since 2023, though I didn’t officially move here until the start of 2025. When I’m not working or herding my people around, I enjoy video games, walks and cooking. I am poly and have several partners, including my alpha and bf Archie, my daddies Jacob and Ryan, and my boyfriend Jett. Through them I’ve been able to learn about and attend many leather and kink events and am looking forward to doing my part in planning future events. My main goal is to make people feel welcome and heard, regardless of their experience or expression in the community.
